My Poems

Rebel Poetry by Chris Bunton

I don’t follow the rules.
I don’t believe that the rule makers are better than me.
I don’t accept their authority to own me.

So, I write poetry.
Because I can make my own rules.
If you don’t like it.
Don’t read it.

I hate the grammar nazis;
who correct my mistakes,
And make themselves feel great.

I write my poems.
So people can understand.
I don’t want to hide my words
Or give mystic meanings.

I want to drive you to action.
I want to get you to see.
I want you to remember.
And fly away free.

What’s the point of writing?
If no one can read?
It’s like a single beer,
In a house full of drunks.

My poems are for me.
Because I know
That someone will agree.
If I speak the truth loudly.
